Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know About Storefront Doors

A storefront system is an aluminum framing assembly that holds large areas of glass, with one or more doors set into it. It is the standard entrance for retail, restaurant, and office space because it delivers visibility and daylight while still carrying the security hardware a commercial opening needs. The frame, the door leaf, the glazing, and the hardware are all specified separately, which is why two storefronts that look alike can perform very differently.

Size determines the length, but in general very quick. Repairs are available within 1-3 weeks. Small projects run 3-4 weeks, and larger projects will be communicated after the consultation.

Usually yes. If the aluminum framing is straight and the stops and gaskets are sound, we measure the opening, supply the correct tempered or insulated unit, and install it. If the frame itself is bent or the corners have opened up, replacing only the glass tends to be a short-lived fix and we will tell you that up front. Note that we have a half-day labor minimum.

Entrances serving the public are generally expected to meet accessibility requirements for clear width, opening force, hardware height, threshold height, and closing speed. The exact obligations depend on your occupancy and whether the work counts as an alteration, so your local building department or architect is the authority. We spec and adjust entrances with those requirements in mind and will flag anything on your opening that looks like it will not pass.

Yes. Hardware is the part most owners find miserable to sort out on their own – grade, function, code, finish, and price all interact. We specify and install closers, panic devices, electric strikes, locks, pulls, and thresholds. We take on both large and small hardware jobs, subject to a half-day labor minimum.

Yes, we are licensed to supply and install doors, insured with Commercial General Liability. Bonding is available upon request.
